Body manifesto
Since the 80s, the bodysuit has been a wardrobe staple.
At least in that of New York businesswomen and socialites. And in our fantasies of being this powerful woman who walks quickly because she has to make urgent decisions before going to dinner at the Cirque and then jumping in a taxi to make an appearance at a charity evening at the Met.
My bodysuit memory is from when I was 5. I live in Toronto, I do rhythmic gymnastics, and I have a sky blue leotard with little ruffled sleeves. My parents already know that I'm not very smart when it comes to sports... But I remember feeling powerful in that leotard. I'm a superhero!
90s. End of year show for CM2. I am hypermetropic, already quite self-conscious. The theme of the show is fitness. My mother makes me a leotard with her black swimsuit, shortening the straps. Ponytail, white tights, sneakers, bright sunshine. I still have my glasses and my shyness but 2 friends see me arrive: “wow you look so cool in your leotard”. I am galvanized. I still feel today the joy that had flooded me. A small shift had taken place, that day I gained a tiny bit of self-confidence.
So the Patina body?
We added a few drops of that day's self-confidence. Power, that of heroines in leotards. Comfort, maximum. A bit of Cameron Diaz in 1992, rounded like a ballet dancer. The best of materials, our wonderful thermoregulating and lifting Power stretch.
