FAQ - All about the Gaby 002 trench coat

I'm hesitating between 2 sizes, what advice do you have to make sure I don't make a mistake?

Gaby is available in three sizes: XS/S - M/L - XL/XXL.

It is naturally oversized, take your usual size or even one size smaller if you are not (yet) comfortable with oversize!

I'm “small”, I'm afraid it's too long!

In our opinion, length is the secret to trench coats with style.

We wanted Gaby to be “just long enough” for a crazy look, but which prevents us from tripping over ourselves or giving the impression of having stolen a giant’s coat.

This length was refined thanks to you during the fittings from 1m60 to 1m90 (anyone?).

Very important: our experiments have always been carried out in Converse, since that's how they are worn, the Patina woman runs everywhere.

Does this trench coat protect against rain?

Yes! The gabardine armor provides initial resistance to light rain and its water-repellent properties are reinforced by the application of a C0 water-repellent product (without fluorinated molecules, therefore without PFAS)

Why did you evolve the material?

For this new edition of Gaby, we wanted to go even further in terms of traceability, which led us to have to change suppliers. We also wanted to work with a material with a heavier and slippery hand at the same time

to obtain a perfect fall, a heavy and slippery hand at the same time which also makes it crease-resistant.

If the size doesn't fit, can I exchange my trench coat?

Yes, absolutely within 14 days, provided it is still labeled, not stained, not damaged, not washed.
We always manufacture additional parts for you to exchange.

Eye for detail

The Gaby trench coat is a great iconic classic, but not boring. We can have fun with all these details which are anything but superfluous: the length is designed to suit young and old alike, the corozo buttons are sublime, the straps at the wrists and the belt give it a vintage side. The Gaby trench or responsible luxury? Completely.

18 months to make our trench coat , as long as writing a novel. And more than 2000 of you helped us with your answers and your desires.

Why is this trench coat more conscious than another?

Biofeel Polyamide is a partly bio-sourced polyamide. It is made from 64% castor oil (non-edible and not from deforestation). The castor oil is grown in India.
The gabardine weave provides initial resistance to light rain. The water-repellent properties are enhanced by the application of a C0 water-repellent product (without fluorinated molecules = PFAS free).
The material is woven in Italy and the trench coat is made in Portugal.
The presence of polyamide allows us to have a faster drying (polyamide fiber with low hydrophilicity) and to obtain the desired fall.
The lining is made of recycled polyester spun in Spain: 30% is SEAQUAL certified, it is recycled polyester from marine waste (collected on beaches or at sea). The remaining 70% is made from waste).

How to maintain it?

Easy care: wash at 30° inside out, 600 revolutions maximum.

Gaby , from dream to reality

The second production is coming soon for pre-order, but the story actually begins in 1983 when Lauren Hutton, Los Angeles is photographed in a stolen moment that makes her trench look like it's "just too big but not too big, really."

The seed is planted, that of the official image of the look of our dreams, like the nostalgia for a garment that does not really exist but that we miss... 2 years before, Brigitte Fossey flirts with the German teacher dressed in a trench coat that will also imprint memories and shake up clichés: moms can be too cool too. But we digress.

2017: start of the Patine project with just one first Patine essential , the "Willie Cool" t-shirt. But already the promise of one day a dressing room, probably complete in 2150, we take our time. And already on our dreamlist pinned to the wall we have written "one day a really beautiful trench coat in Patine sauce": useful, ecological, to keep for a long time...and which looks amazing.

2021: 1,420 of you answered the questionnaire to describe the trench coat of your dreams. The brief in 1 sentence? " It's the one we saw in our dreams and in the pages of vintage Special Fashion magazines with New Yorkers walking fast. Sunglasses, cap, Converse, latte optional ." We're in sync, at work.

Your excitement was palpable in the questionnaire about the future trench coat: it was more anticipated than Santa Claus and the tomato season.

September 2022: we have been working on recycled material in Italy for 1 year. The first 50 meters are sublime, but it turns out to be impossible to weave in larger quantities, the innovation is not there. Back to square one, chin up.

Then there are 75 of you trying the prototypes throughout its development, then at the beginning of 2023 there are 200 of you who helped us finish the project in a Whatsapp group created for the occasion... group which has since become a forum Patine behind the scenes* :) After a street casting, there are 10 of you who are photographed in it "like in New York", we don't dare declare victory yet but we smile.

March 31, 2023: Hasty departure for Portugal. We have doubts about the construction of the armhole. We chose a half-lining in order to keep a trench coat with a light and loose fall, and to keep visible the sublime finishes covered on the bias... But this makes the making process difficult. So we go find solutions.

February 2023, we open a first pre-order, and it's boiling. The trenches are made (thank you for your legendary patience) and your messages of joy from the first showers convince us to launch a production for the start of the school year. In short, something great is happening with this trench, so we thank you.
